Answer Every Call.

That’s the motto of the Brighter Futures Suicide Hotline, a service dedicated to being the first responders to people in their darkest hours.

Or so it seems.

Because beneath the surface, bad things are happening to people who work for Brighter Futures...

Hi. I'm award-winning horror author Michele Freeman. I've been a published writer for more than thirty years. I started out as an independent reporter for regional publications in the Midwest in addition to working as an editor for small press publishers.

I transitioned to writing fiction full-time and saw my first novel published in 1999. Since then I've penned more than 40 paranormal romances and mysteries as New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Michele Bardsley. I also write young adult books and children's stories as Michele Vail.

My fiction has received many honors and accolades, including the Grand Prize in the Writer’s Digest annual writing competition for A Mother Scorned and the Crème de la Crème award from the Oklahoma Writers Federation, Inc. for my short story A Demon is a Girl's Best Friend (currently available in Dark Nights).

When I'm not writing, I crochet, read creepy fiction, listen to true crime podcasts, and eat dark chocolate. I live in Texas with my awesome husband and our fur babies.
